The lawns here are typically couch or buffalo, and because the estate is built on reclaimed industrial land the soil is a mix of fill and imported topsoil, which means drainage can be inconsistent and some lawns develop patchy growth. The established hedges throughout Cairnlea are mostly lilly pilly and need shaping twice a year to stay dense and square.
